The manga origin of Naruto

Naruto is a Japanese manga series about a socially isolated boy who dreams of becoming the Hokage. Masashi Kishimoto based it on two one-shot manga, including Karakuri and an earlier Naruto one-shot. The series was serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump from September 1999 to November 2014.

The manga sold over 250 million copies in 46 countries. Its story was later adapted into two anime television series that ran from October 2002 to March 2017. The narrative is told in two parts: the first follows Naruto in his pre-teen years, and the second follows him in his teens.

Why was Naruto feared in Konoha?

Naruto was feared because his father, Minato Namikaze, sacrificed his life by sealing the Nine-Tailed Fox inside newborn Naruto. As a result, Naruto was often scorned by the villagers of Konoha for being the host of the Nine-Tails.

He did not learn the truth about the Nine-Tails until 12 years later, when Mizuki revealed it to him. Naruto defeated Mizuki in combat and earned the respect of his teacher, Iruka Umino. That moment marked an early turn in his path from outcast to accepted ninja.

How did Naruto become a ninja?

Naruto became a ninja and formed Team 7 with Sasuke Uchiha, Sakura Haruno, and Kakashi Hatake. That team placed him alongside three important names in the series: Sasuke, Sakura, and their leader, Kakashi. Naruto's training and missions then carried him deeper into the world of ninja conflicts.

After the search for Sasuke, Naruto left Konoha to train under Jiraiya. Two and a half years later, he returned from training with Jiraiya as the Akatsuki began kidnapping Tailed Beast hosts. The return marked a new stage in his story, with Naruto no longer just a rookie ninja but someone shaped by years of training.

What battles changed Naruto's standing?

Naruto defeated and redeemed Nagato, and that victory earned Konoha's respect and admiration. It was one of the clearest signs of how far he had come from the boy the villagers once scorned.

His rise continued through his later life. Naruto married Hinata Hyuga, and after that he became the Seventh Hokage. The dream that once defined him as a lonely boy became the role that crowned his journey.
